Yate & District Athletic Club have identified several athletic disciplines where more coaching cover is required.
Attaining an English Athletics "Coaching Assistant " qualification is the first step to becoming a fully qualified athletics coach.
This is an opportunity to be mentored by an existing coach and receive guidance along the coaching pathway.
Anybody interested in this position would initially just be asked to shadow our High Jump Coach, Jeremy Dale. There would be no responsibility, just an opportunity to watch and understand what is involved with coaching.
When the candidate is happy and a course becomes available, there will be a requirement to attend a two day Coaching Assistant course.
The club will subsidise this course (£185).
- The first £100 to be reimbursed straight away.
- The remaining £85 to be reimbursed following the applicant attending 20 training sessions.
On completion of the course you will then be able to work with Jeremy, where he will act as a mentor.
It is recommended that Coaching Assistants attain at least a years experience before progressing to qualifying as a Coach
This is a teaching/coaching/counselling role, suitable for a mature adult.
No qualifications are required.
Even previous experience or specialist knowledge of the event isn't essential (you will pick this up in time).
Applicants must however be able to work well with groups of individuals of various age/ability and have a strong desire to help people fulfil their potential.
