Ireland U20 team win gold at European Cross Country Championships!

Three Irish runners finished inside the top 10, with Yate runner, Seamus Robinson, coming in 26th, Shane Brosnan in 28th and Harry Colbert in 40th.

Ireland won the team competition by two points, with Great Britain and Northern Ireland in second place.

Our junior athletes did the club proud once again at the South West Indoor Championships.
Plenty of athletes made the trip to Cardiff to compete across a variety of events, winning a total of 16 medals, along with some other great performances.

Five Yate AC athletes travelled up to Sheffield to take part in the national U20/U17/U15 championships on February 10th & 11th, along with their coaches.
Although this is an open competition, athletes must have attained a high standard to enter, which means competing against the best in the country!
Our athletes put in some great performances and won three national championships medals! they are all in the top 10 so far this season in the UK rankings in their respective events and age groups!
Issy Walkey won Silver in the U17 60m sprint. She also ran a PB which now places her 3rd on this seasons UK rankings.
Owen Garret also won a silver medal in the U17 shot put. Owen is now 2nd on this seasons UK rankings.
Evie Moir won the bronze in the U17 high jump. She is currently at 8th on the UK rankings, with plenty more to come this season!
Ruby Donaldson finished in 7th position in the U17 high jump. Ruby jumped a PB in January that sees her at 7th on this seasons rankings.
Jordan Iwhiwhu was only a few cm of his PB in the U20 triple jump, gaining him a 7th place finish. Jordan is currently at 9th on the UK rankings.
In addition to the athletes, Graham and Debbie Brooks volunteered their services for the weekend as officials to support the championships. Graham did two triple jumps, a pole vault, shot, high jump and long jump over the two days. Deb helped out with spectator and coach registration and live Roster results.
Isaac Cory competed in the 400m and finished 2nd in his heat, which gained him a place in the semi-finals. (Watch the race here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktEM5W3N2TI)
Steph Brooks competed in the 200m, running a superb PB and only missing out on a place in the semi-finals by 0.03s! (Watch the race here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w1hwziSEpg)
Dan Brooks ran in the 60m and finished 6th in his heat.
Luke Ball competed in the high jump and finished in =7th place.
Unfortunately Adam Brooks had to withdraw from the high jump due to injury.
Yate athletes had a great time representing their universities at the British University Indoor Championships in Sheffield at the end of February.
Stephanie Brooks (Cardiff Met) won a bronze medal in the 4x200m relay. She also came qualified for the semi-final in the 200m with a new PB, as well a gaining a PB in the 60m hurdles (going below 9seconds for the first time) and finished 13th in the heats in the long jump!
Luke Ball (Bath) won the bronze medal in the high jump with a seasons best performance of 2.06m.
Liam Hillier (Cardiff Met) finished 15th in the pole vault with a SB performance of 3.73m
Katie Robbins (AECC) qualified for the semi-finals in the 400m, where she finished in 10th place with a season best run of 57.48.
Kirsty Treglown (Cardiff Met) also qualified for the semi-finals, in the 60m, where she finished 31st overall.
Sophie Hornung (Cardiff Met) jumped a PB of 3.03m in the pole vault, finishing 12th overall.
