What we offer
Weekly para adaptive athletics sessions for athletes to learn how to race, jump and throw.
We offer seated throws and race chair track activities for those with physical mobility limitations alongside frame running for those with more mobility.
We also offer ambulant running, throwing & jumping for those with greater mobility and those with learning difficulties.
Who we cater for
Participants must be;
- from School Year 7 upwards to adults,
- able to participate as part of a small group of four to six athletes
- able to follow basic instruction from the coach leading the session.
What is the difference between Para & Adaptive?
Adaptive athletics is where we “adapt” the athletic activity to meet the individual’s need, for example throwing a bean bag or howler or undertaking a standing long jump.
Para athletics is where athletes undertake the sport of athletics but are classified into classes according to their impairment type and severity.
Our Coaching Team
All our wonderful volunteer coaches are fully England Athletics qualified with safeguarding training and DBS clearance.
Sessions are on a Friday early evening but athletes may be able to progress to additional club sessions as they develop their athletic skills.
