2024 Para & Adaptive Athletics review
A lot happened in 2024. We have
hosted sessions and competition for nearly
100 adaptive and para athletes and with the
opening up of the Avon League, we are
attracting more and more para competitors
to Yate from the region.

Farewell to club legend, Tony Jefferies
The club are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Tony Jefferies , a much loved member of Yate and District AC.
AVON TRACK & FIELD MATCH 4 REARRANGED – SEPTEMBER 24th
The Avon track and field round four has been re-scheduled for Saturday, 24th September and will now be held at Yate.

U15/U17 Midland Championships entry now open (including U13 Quadrathlon)
We would like to raise awareness to our members that Yate and District AC are in a privileged position where athletes are eligible to enter two regional Championships…
Pole Vault recruitment
Coach, Sam Hillier-Smith is hoping to recruit some more athletes to her successful Pole Vault Squad.
Sam’s squad have broken many of the clubs records and gained Regional and even National medals.
Ideally, athletes would be aged 12-14 and available to train at least once a week, preferably twice.
2022 County Championships review
We’ve tallied up last weekends Yate AC medal haul over three regional County Championships (Avon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire) and we are extremely pleased to announce Yate athletes have picked up an amazing 56 gold medals, 32 silver medals, and 19 bronze medals… a massive total of 107 medals!
Avon Schools 2023 cancelled
We are not going to have enough Qualified Officials to run the planned selection meeting and therefore have had to CANCEL the trials scheduled for 6th June.
We need more Officials!
We are very short of parents in the U13 & U15 age groups who are officials.
We recently had to call on Charlotte & Matt Viner to cover the Cardiff YDL Lower match (as well as officials from Bristol & West) to ensure that we did not lose points, as officials contribute to the team’s points in the both the YDL Lower & Upper Leagues as well as the senior leagues that we compete in.
Return to competition – The latest known information
England Athletics have today (17th June 2020) issued a revised plan with regards a potential return to competition.

2023 English Schools Selection
For the second year running, we are very pleased to announce that seventeen club members have been selected to represent their County at this years English Schools.

2022 League update (July)
As a club we compete in five athletics leagues, from the local to the national. All leagues (except AT&F) only have one more match to go.
Here’s an update of what’s been happening.
2023 NATIONAL ATHLETICS LEAGUE (NAL) – MATCH 1 REPORT
You never know how the team will fare before the season starts and a certain amount of trepidation exists as the team is prepared for its first match and you don’t know what the opposition has in store.

Avon County SportsHall Championships – April 30th 2022
David Turner (Avon County Coordinator) has issued the following reminder:
Just to remind everyone. The County SportsHall Championships are happening this Saturday, April 30th at Bristol Grammar School sports hall.
2022 South West Championships Entry Open
Entry for the 2022 South West Championships is now open.
These Championships will take place at Exeter on Sunday July 24th.
Saturday 7th December training sessions cancelled
Due to the impending storm Darragh and the Amber/Red weather warning for tomorrow (Saturday 7th), all our academy sessions and club training sessions have been cancelled.
2023 Sports Psychology workshops
Following the popular workshops in 2022, Jordan has plans for more in 2023.
2023 Westbury Wipeout
Our partner club, Westbury Harriers, are encouraging people to enter their annual “Westbury Wipeout” event.
A 3k multi-terrain adventure for juniors aged 8-15 taking them round the beautiful grounds of Blaise Castle, Henbury.
