Yate Athletic Club Adaptive and Para Athletics
At Yate Athletic Club Adaptive and Para athletics we say
“Respect the person and adapt the activities”
In other words, we concentrate on what people CAN do and adapt our athletic challenges to match.
The Yate Athletic Club Adaptive and Para Athletics programme continues to expand with additional sessions – now up to six each week. The sessions are all year round. Participants range from secondary aged children right through to older adults. We work with participants who have sensory, physical and learning needs.
We have a range of new equipment for fitness and a range of racing wheelchairs, running frames and seated throws; and an indoor facility for when the weather is less kind.
In the summer we offer athletics competition days for deaf schools, for the group with physical disability and also for school children with additional needs. Six of the group have now come through to compete in mainstream competition in throwing, chair racing and frame running.
Coaches are UKA qualified and have access to the facilities for run, jump and specialist throws challenges. We welcome those who are just beginning their journey .. as well as those with aspirations for International Paralympic success.
