The Yate & Disctrict AC & Westbury Harriers partnership

We have a longstanding partnership with Westbury Harriers, another local club based in Westbury-on-trym, Bristol with a long and impressive history.

The partnership was formed during April 1997, to improve the competitive strengths of both clubs and thus the competitive opportunities for athletes of both clubs.

The agreement means that Yate & District focuses and restricts its competition provision to Track and Field events while Westbury focuses on endurance running competition.

Endurance running has many flavours and encompasses a huge range of distances from 800m up to marathons and beyond. Plus a variety of surfaces to run on such as the synthetic 400m track, road, and cross country.

As a Yate & District member you are able to sign up for Westbury Harriers for no additional fee and be involved with the competitive options they offer, Cross Country teams in various leagues and Road Relay race teams for example. Cross Country running in the winter can be a good way to supplement your training for track running in the summer.

There are a number of adult groups that get together for training runs of different speeds at various locations and days through the week – all abilities welcome – sessions posted in advance via their newsletter and Facebook group.

Any Yate athlete wanting to compete for Westbury would need to complete an affiliation form with them too and now, because of recent EA changes, an other discipline form
