Junior Academy

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our Junior Academy sessions from January until March 2021, due to COVID-19.

We are very pleased to say that, from 30th March 2021, these sessions are back!

For more information on how we are running these sessions, please read this news article:

All of the following information pertains to how we ran the Academy Sessions before the necessary constraints we have had to impose, due to COVID-19

This gives a flavour of what we offer and is where we would like to eventually return, but for now, please refer to the news item (link above) for how we are currently running our sessions

Our Junior Academy is a great place to start athletics!

Under the supervision of our qualified coaching team, young athletes can experience a broad range of events, from sprinting and long jump to pole vault and javelin, all within the environment of a professional athletics stadium.

Junior Academy training sessions are aimed at athletes aged 6 to 16 years old and take place on:
• Tuesdays 6-7pm
• Wednesdays 6-7pm and 7-8pm
• Thursdays 6-7pm
• Saturdays 10-11am

Sessions are run on a pay as you go basis at £3 per evening, with no need to pre or block book, and you are welcome to come along and try your first night for free.

We run the Junior Academy every week, including school holidays (except between Christmas and the New Year).

All sessions take place at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex.

Following a joint warm up we split out into age groups for coaching in that evening’s activity, which varies from week to week so that we can cover a broad range of athletic skills, ensuring that young athletes can experience all the run, jump and throw events.

Once you’ve got the hang of it you may want to focus on one or more specific disciplines, and we’ll introduce you to one of our Club Nights (Tuesdays & Thursdays) for specialist coaching.

We’ll also help you to try out your new skills in local competitions, if you fancy it.  You never know you may be the next Usain Bolt! And there will also be opportunities to compete as part of our Yate team in local or national league matches.

Interested? Give one of the contacts below a call for a chat, whether you’re looking for fun, fitness or something more competitive, this could be the start of something special!
