COMPETITION
Please view our “Fixtures Page” for an up to date list of all known competitions
There are 4 main types of competition to enter:
Open Meetings
Open to all age groups, you may need your England Athletics (EA) number to register, if you are in year 6 or above.
We occasionally host our own Open Meetings and there are others available throughout the season, all over the country – check out the fixtures list for more details.
League Meetings
Yate athletes compete in 5 league competitions:
- Avon Track & Field League (local) for all age groups
- Lower Youth Development League (national) for U13’s & U15’s
- Upper Youth Development League (national) for U17’s & U20’s
- Midland League (regional)
- National Athletics League (national)
Team Managers select teams to represent the club so it’s a good idea to use open competitions to get your performances logged on the power of ten web site. https://thepowerof10.info/ (the national ranking database)
County / Regional / National Championships
There are County, Regional and National Championships held across the season. You will need to meet residential or birth place eligibility requirements to enter, and for the higher competitions (regional or national) you will need to have achieved a qualifying standard this season.
Schools Competitions
You may be selected to represent your school in a district level competition (for example Bristol or South Gloucestershire) – you won’t need an EA number to compete for your school.
If you do well, you could go on to represent your district in the county championships, and from here, county teams are selected to compete for Avon, Gloucestershire or Wiltshire at South West Schools or even English Schools, although you will need to have achieved a qualifying standard – check out the notice board in the club house for details of what to aim for.
