Basics Throws Day
Yate & District AC are putting on a number of coaching days for young throwers who haven’t had the benefit of formal coaching or are relatively new to throwing. The days would also be useful to current throwers looking for a technical edge to improve their performances.
Understanding the basic technical movements required from the outset is very important. Unfortunately, far too many young throwers don’t get the help they need due to a shortage of throws coaches. These sessions will look at what’s currently happening, what could be improved and what throwers should be focussing on to improve their technical ability.
The sessions will run on a circuit basis with all 4 throwing disciplines being covered by highly experienced coaches. However, if there’s a throwing event you don’t want to do, you can simply opt out of that coaching segment – no problem.
With permission, athletes will be filmed before the coaching sessions for technical analysis purposes and filmed again after the coaching sessions. Everyone will get the chance to throw.
The Basics Days are on the following afternoons (13.00 – 18.00):
- Saturday 18th April
- Saturday 30th May
- Saturday 27th June
- Saturday 19th September *
*The intention is to invite everyone who attends the sessions in April, May or June, to a licensed competition on Saturday 19th September to see how athletes have been progressing.
Athletes should choose just one from the first 3 days on offer. The competition day of the 19th September is open to all those attending any of the other days.
