Ellie Leather – Hat Trick Hero!

15/04/2021/in Yate Athletic Club News/by Matt Spicer

Congratulations to Ellie, who has recently secured THREE new senior club records whilst studying in America and competing for the Cincinnati “Bearcats”.

Her 2021 season well and truly got under way, as she first bettered her own mile (1600m) senior club record in March, with a time of 4:41.83 (i)

She then beat the clubs 5000m record on 3rd April, by five seconds, on her home track in Ohio, with a time of 16:40.28

Just six days later, on April 9th, she then shattered the clubs senior 1500m five-year-old record by almost 10 seconds, with a new time of 4:17.30

Having previously set the 800m senior club record in 2019, Ellie has truly secured her position as the clubs “Queen of Middle Distance”.  All that’s really left now is the 3000m Club Record… and as she was only four seconds away from beating that in January, who would bet against her!?

Well done Ellie, we are all very proud of your achievements back here and cant wait to see you back in a Yate vest one day!

All of the Club Records are stored on our website and can be viewed here:
