2019 AWARDS NIGHT

Sunday 15th December 2019

A packed function room at YOSC showed up to witness our 35th Annual Awards Night.

Unfortunately, club Chairman, Jeremy Dale was unable to attend, due to illness. His wife Ann Dale collected a presentation tankard for “outstanding services to the club” in his absence.

As usual, the evening was presented by our marvellous Club Membership Secretary Ellen Taylor

Special guest for the evening was Lisa Marie-Smith, the Granddaughter of the Clubs founder Mike Smith who passed away in November.

Ellen and team managers reviewed the Avon League, Youth Development League and Midland League as well as the individual successes of our athletes at various championships.  We then moved on to present the awards.   The winners were as follows:

Everybody was then fed with our home cooked food (thank you to the volunteers who prepared and cooked this for us).

Finally, those who stayed on, watched BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.

We would like to thank everybody who played a part in making this such a successful evening.  Special thanks go out to Matt Viner for all of his time and effort in organising the evening.  He was responsible for creating databases of nominees and their achievements.  He created the online voting system and collated the results.  He organised the trophies.  He provided the sound system and backdrop for the photographs.   He took all of the wonderful photographs (above).

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening.  We look forward to doing it again next year!
