MATT MUGGERIDGE
1997-
Matt joined the club in 1997 as a Senior athlete, when his family moved to the area.
A Triple Jump specialist, he broke the club record in his first season, and then extended it the following year to a mark that is still standing, 20 years later.
Matt was also a good all rounder, competing in all sprints from 100m to 400m, Long and Triple Jumps, 400m Hurdles, and was also a useful Javelin thrower.
For the next 15 years, Matt was an integral part of the MensMidland team and then more recently the Combined Midland League team, regularly taking on 5 or 6 events on match days and making a large contribution to the team points tally.
Matt still holds Senior club records at 200m, 300m and 400m Hurdles as well as the Triple Jump.
Since turning 35, Matt has focussed on the Masters events, and has won many British masters medals as well as competing internationally in both European and World Masters events. He has regularly made finals and won relay medals, but in 2017 won his first individual international medal at the European Masters Championships in Denmark, picking up a Bronze medal in the Triple Jump.
Matt won the Senior Mens award 5 times and has won the Masters Mens award 5 times to date.
Since 2015, Matt has also been Team Manager for the Midland League Team.
