A PLEA TO PARENTS FOR HELP
We are desperately short of parents in the U13 & U15 age groups who are officials.
We recently had to call on Charlotte & Matt Viner to cover the Cardiff YDL Lower match (as well as officials from Bristol & West) to ensure that we did not lose points, as officials contribute to the team’s points in the both the YDL Lower & Upper Leagues as well as the senior leagues that we compete in.
Going forward we want our YDL teams to be self sufficient with officials from the parents.
Please Note:
ALL OFFICIALS ARE VOLUNTEERS AND UNPAID.
NO OFFICIALS = NO COMPETITION FOR YOUR CHILD (The Cardiff match nearly didn’t go ahead).
We have a great opportunity for you to try officiating on Saturday 12th August at our Masters Open competition at Yate.
This will be a very relaxed competition!
It is an ideal day to have a go as you can do so without having to worry about looking after your child!
Please let me know if you would like to try officiating on the 12th August and we can ensure that you are mentored either in the field, start team, track or timekeeping.
I will be around this coming Saturday as part of the start team (as a trainee) so do feel free to let me know on Saturday if you would like to come on the 12th August or just drop me an email.
I have attached a leaflet that we recently produced which explains the different roles and the steps to becoming an athletics official.
If you are currently a trainee and are available on the 12th do let me know if you can help, as we need more officials on the 12th August for our Masters Open.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Best regards,
Andrew Moyes
