2021 YATE RELAY FOR LIFE

Team Captain wanted!

ABOUT RELAY FOR LIFE

Relay For Life is a family festival celebrating the power of community fundraising in the fight to beat cancer. Teams fundraise for life-saving cancer research then unite at a weekend-long festival to celebrate and remember everyone who has been affected by cancer.

Teams raise funds over the period of a year and the fundraising culminates with  a 24-hour relay where team members take it in turns to walk around a track to show that “together we will beat cancer”.

Since its inception in 2006, the Yate “Relay for Life” has raised an incredible £600,000 on behalf of Cancer Research UK.

This annual event takes place all over the country, during July.  The Yate relay takes place at our home, the Yate Outdoor Sports Complex.

2017

In 2017 Yate Athletic Club entered a team and managed to raise £3,000 in the time leading up to the relay.  Everybody who took part had an amazing experience, with many team members walking a marathon over the 24-hour period!

Relay For Life (Cancer Research)

The cancellation of the 2020 event was hugely disappointing for many people in the local community, including YOSC, but the organisers are already looking forward to next years event and plan to make the 15th relay the most successful yet.

31st JULY 2021 – YATE AC TEAM?

In just a fraction over a years time, the Yate Relay For Life should be back.

Has cancer affected you?  Would you like to try and make a difference and “stand up to cancer”?  The club are looking for somebody who would like to create a team and act as Team Captain.  This would then enable fundraising for the 2021 event to begin.

When a team is created, we are sure it wouldn’t take very long at all to recruit team members.  We would certainly help with recruitment!

The sooner it is created, the sooner the fundraising can begin.

If you are interested in starting a team, go to this website:

Just let us know when a team is created and people can join.

We still have a Facebook Group that we can revive: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1791467994465151/
