Second Para Athletics Classification
August 2023 update
Over the weekend of 12th and 13th August, Toby Richardson went through the UK athletics classification process to become a recognised para-athlete.
This involved a medical and coach-led series of questioning, poking and prodding to determine the extent of physical disability.
This was carried out in the velodrome at Newport and Toby had to demonstrate his use of the racing chair.
He was given the classification of T54 – which relates to lower body issues.
This was followed on the Sunday by a classification race over 100m during the Welsh National Championships.
He recorded a PB of 23.93 seconds which for his age would place him first or second in Power of Ten.
He is also classified as F57, allowing his performances in throwing to be recognised and entered in Power of Ten … notably at the next Avon League on 17th September.
We have great hopes for Toby’s developments in athletics.
