League Update
As a club we compete in five athletics leagues, from the local to the national. All leagues (except AT&F) only have one more match to go.
Here’s an update of what’s been happening;
National Athletics League.

Current division position: 4th

We are currently in fourth place in the division at the moment. We could realistically end the season in third if we place ahead of Portsmouth and Milton Keynes in this last match, but we need every event filled!
It’s a home match on August 20th so we need to take advantage and get a decent result. Contact Graham if you’d like to take part and fill a space… or three!
Midland League
Age group: Seniors/masters/U20/U17
Team Manager: Matt Muggeridge
Current division position: 1st
A much fuller team took advantage of home advantage last weekend in the 3rd match, to come away with a convincing victory in warm and blustery conditions at YOSC.
There were some fantastic individual performances and a strong team spirit which carried us forward to the win.
Special note to Jodie Dale, James Viner, Reece Straker and Adam Brooks, who’s performances were at a standard to earn bonus points.
Adam’s HJ clearance was also a Midland League Divisional record!
This leaves us out in top of the division with 1 match to go, but only 1 point ahead of Stratford and 2 ahead of Cheltenham, so all to play for, with a top 2 finish needed to guarantee promotion.
The next match is on 13th August in Solihull, and again we need every event filled.

Avon Track and Field League
Age group: Seniors/Masters/U20/U17/U15/U13/U11

Current division position: 1st
This league is one where all age groups complete, including our Quadkids.
Following a great team effort in the first match on 10th July, we are now in 1st place in the league.
There are still two matches to go though, so we’d really like everyone to get involved!
Our Quadkids are currently in third place. This league uses an alternating timetable, so not every event is available at each match, but there are still plenty of spaces to fill.
All welcome, so please make yourself known to the relevant team managers for your age group.

Youth Development League
Upper Age Group

Current division position: 1st
Our upper age group YDL team is a composite team – Team Avon – composed of athletes from Yate AC, Bristol & West, Team Bath and Mendip AC.
Team Avon has smashed the first three matches, finishing top of the division by 1000 points!
We have now progressed to the regional final which will be on August 7th at Yate against Birchfield Harriers, Cardiff Archers, Coventry & Leamington AC, Rugby and Northants AC and Swansea Harriers.
Again, it is really important that we fill all the events to enable us to qualify for the National Final, even if you just jog round for a point!

Lower Age Group

After three matches our youngest athletes have finished top of the division and are now heading to the area promotion match this Saturday at Yate! What a fantastic achievement.
A top two finish will see the team promoted to the premier division next season!
