NO OFFICIALS? NO COMPETITIONS!
It should go without saying that competition simply cant go ahead if there is nobody to measure and record athletes times heights or distances.
This season, the club would desperately like to hear from more people willing to help us with our officiating commitments.
Our Officials Coordinator, Andrew Moyes, tells us “we are short of officials for many competitions over the coming season, with a very worrying zero volunteers for one of the competitions”.
THE MORE OFFICIALS WE HAVE…
- the less likely we will be to have points deducted from League organisers.
- the more Open Competitions we could provide.
- the lighter the load will be for everyone.
England Athletics are running online courses and the club would be willing to pay for any of our members (must be aged 16+) or parents to take them.
Anybody interested would need to;
- First of all get in touch with Andrew Moyes to talk it through.
- If you are happy you want to proceed, ask Charlotte Viner for a voucher code that can be redeemed against the £20 cost of a course.
- When you are ready to book, go to Athletics Hub and create an account if you don’t already have one.
When you have created an account, the first thing you will need to do is complete a Health & Safety course, before you can book any Officiating courses.
- Click on “Qualifications & CPD”.
- Type “Health & Safety Online” in the search.
- Click “Book Now” (this course is free!) and follow the directions until you have completed the course.
When you have completed the Health and Safety course you will be able to book on to an Officiating course.
- Type “Level 1 Track Official – Virtual Classroom” or “Level 1 Field Official – Virtual Classroom” and select the appropriate course you are interested in.
- Click “Book Now” and proceed to checkout
- Either pay for the course yourself, or select the VOUCHER option and use the code Charlotte provided you
