Congratulations to two Yate AC Athletes Izzy Walkey and Henry Watson who represented England Schools at the SIAB International this weekend.
Congratulations to two Yate AC Athletes Izzy Walkey and Henry Watson who represented England Schools at the SIAB International this weekend.
Never before have two Yate athletes competed at the same major international championships, so when Owen Garrett (Discus) and Louis Tutcher (Hammer) were both selected history had been made.
Congratulations to Owen Garrett and Louis Tutcher, who were selected to represent England at the inaugural “Pickering Memorial Throws International” held at Loughborough University on 27th May 2024.
We are so excited that 18 year old Yate athlete Owen Merrett has been selected to compete at the U20 World Championships!
Owen will be one of only 43 athletes (and only 9 field athletes) who will make up the GB team at this event
The following report appears in the Yate & Sodbury Gazette:
TOBY Conibear – fresh from a Brimsham Green School band tour to Holland – competed for England in the Home International Schools competition, writes Stuart Nunn.
Great news, Hannah Hobbs won Gold in Spain at the international XC at Seville. Hannah won the U20 classification and was second overall! Congratulations to her and her Coach Pat Gallagher what an amazing achievement!

Well the dust has settled and the results are in.
Katie Robbins is now the Target Sprint Junior British Champion and Josh Snook grabbed Bronze despite a bad back on the day, (at one point he wasn’t even sure he would be able to start in the final)
This is a fantastic result and a great reward for their hard work, learning to shoot as well as keeping their run training going. Well done to them both!
Alex Moulder has now finished his Invictus Games in Toronto, having competed in 100m and 200m sprints, he also did Discus, Shot putt, the cycle road race and Time trial as well as 50m breast stroke and free style, just narrowly missing out on a medal, he must be looking forward to getting home and a well deserved rest!
What an experience! Well done, cannot wait to catch up with him.
Following the recent home nations success for both Yvette Westwood in the Welsh International in Cardiff where she represented England (Midlands) in the 200 (25.02) and 100m (12.19) achieving second in both races and Jack Moore representing Wales in the Celtic games in Dublin (Bronze medal 1.85m), it is now time to look out for Beth Tucker who has been invited to race in the diamond league race (T37) on 20th Aug. This is being televised so watch out for times etc. We wish her all the best.
Fittingly the other date to put in your diary is the 14 October for our awards night and celebration of the year. This year its on a Saturday and will feature a disco as well as the buffet so please keep the date free for when the tickets go on sale.
Great result for Yvette in the Midland Counties U20 Championships at the weekend.
She took both 100m and 200m titles and has earned herself selection for England (Midlands) in the Welsh International in Cardiff on 12th July.
Her win at the weekend means Yvette has made a clean sweep of county sprints this year being U20 Midland Counties indoor Champion for 60m and 200m, U20 Avon County Champion for 100m and 200m and U20 Midland Counties Champion 100m and 200m.
Congratulation to Yvette for her great results, we wish her all the best for her U20 England debut in July, a testament to all the hard work she puts into her athletics.
Great news that Jacob Spence has been selected for the England U20 team for the international to be held tomorrow in Cardiff. Jacob will be competing in the 60mH and it is great to see all his hard work and performances over the years being recognised with his call up to the England team. We all wish him the best of luck.
