DAN WHITE 1990-1994 / 2004-2012
Dan was originally a member of the club from 1990 to 1994.
As an U15 and U17 athlete, he was coached by Terry Dyke, and competed in a variety of events but mainly concentrated on 800m and High Jump, while also doing a bit of cross country in the off season.
In 1994 he left to pursue other sports.
Dan rejoined the club 10 years later in 2004 as a Senior and was immediately drafted into the Men’s Midland League team.
A true all rounder, he was a huge asset to the relatively small team, as he could cover jumps, throws, hurdles and track events, even taking on the Pole Vault and High hurdles, two events that are notoriously challenging.
He was a regular in the team for 8 years, always competing in multiple events and contributing a significant number of points to the team tally on match days, helping the team win back to back promotions in 2005 and 2006.
He used this all round talent to compete in several decathlons, and in 2018 he is still the Senior Men’s record holder for the decathlon (set in 2009). He also held the high jump record for many years, and holds several M35 records, which he set in his last year before retiring.
In 2012 he moved away from athletics, but is always threatening to return to Masters competition !
