Daughter of Karen Jones and sibling to Ashley Jones and Bethany Jones.
Karis joined the club aged 10. Her sprint talent was apparent and she was soon progressing and making an impact in club, schools and regional competitions.
She was initially coached by Glory Wassell until she reached 16. After the retirement of Glory from coaching she moved to Graham Howell’s coaching group with a view to moving up in distance to 400m.
In 2006 at the English Schools Championships in Gateshead, her final English Schools, Karis took a Bronze medal in the Senior Girls 4x100m relay team.
Bad luck with injuries badly affected progress in her late teens and early twenties but Karis persevered.
