No Track training this weekend 30th June/1st July

29/06/2018/in Training sessions/by Jeremy Dale

Just to remind everyone there is no track training this weekend (30th June 1st July) as we have Clifton College Sports day on Saturday and the first Avon Track and Field League competition on Sunday all at Yate.
Our team is split this weekend as we have quiet a few of our members also traveling to Exeter on Sunday for the U17/U20 YDL competition. Best of luck to all those competing.
Next week is the last week before the track refurbishment commences on 09/07/18 so make the most of training before we spend the summer training on grass! But what a return it will be in October on our new track!!!.
Don’t forget to keep in touch with your coach to see when the special trips or training sessions are being arranged else where.

Track Busy this weekend

20/04/2018/in County Championships, Open Meeting, Training sessions/by Jeremy Dale

Just to confirm the track is booked on SATURDAY 21/04/18 by North Somerset so there is NO TRAINING for Yate and
District AC on Saturday 21/04/17 at all.

Next Wednesday evening the 25th April there is an open competition from 6.00 pm run jointly by YATE & District AC and Bristol and West AC so there will be no Yate AC academy sessions. We would, however, encourage you all to enter the event. There are quad kid events too, (75 m, 600 m long jump & vortex throw) so everyone should be able to give it a go. Don’t forget the team managers will be able to see the results which helps them in team selection, how will they be able to select you if they don’t know how well you do and what you like doing?
Please go to the front page of our web site, click on the entry details, its entry on the night, so just turn up, pay and compete! For some of you this may be your first taste of competition, so what better way to start at your own track, with all the friendly faces you know around to help!

Last bit of news. Don’t forget the entries for the Avon County Championships close on 5/05/18, last year we had a great Yate representation in the event so get those entries in!

Christmas Shut down

12/12/2017/in Chairmans message, Training sessions, Yate Athletic Club News/by Jeremy Dale

Just to let you all know the track will be closed from Saturday Afternoon 23rd December and re open Tuesday 2nd January 2018 So the last Club session will be on Saturday Morning 23rd and start again Tuesday evening 2nd.

Matt Spicer has been working hard on the history of the club for this season just gone and further back in time and has sent in the post below.

With the year drawing to an end,  we thought now would be a great time to look back at everything that has happened at the club, during what was generally a very successful Track & Field season.

So, we created a ‘2017 Review’ which can now be viewed under our new ‘Club History’ section of the website.  http://yateac.co.uk/about-the-club/club-history/2017-2/  This page documents a number of things, including club competitions, league placings, individual achievements and general club news.

As you may appreciate, in a sport with so many age groups and events, there are so many things to report, that we unfortunately may miss things from time to time.  Please accept our apologies if this has been the case.

Next season, please pass on your reports and photographs and we will do our utmost to try and record it on the 2018 webpage.

As we look towards 2018, we would like to take this opportunity to tell you that our AGM has been deferred until the New Year, in the hope that we will be able to share, in more detail, what we hope could be some very good news regarding the re-laying of the track.  We will share with you the AGM details as soon as we can.

Finally, for those of you still doing your Christmas shopping online,  we remind you that we have an ‘EasyFundraising’ account and that every time you shop online, you could also be getting a large retailer to make a small contribution to our club.  For more details look here: http://yateac.co.uk/fundraising/online-shopping/

Online Shopping – YATE & DISTRICT ATHLETICS CLUB
yateanddistrictac.co.uk
Do you shop online? If you do, easyfundraing could earn the club cash while you shop. https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/ydac/ Its simple to register and easy use.

Our thanks to Matt for all his hard work on the research and web site.

With Schools breaking up at the end of this week there may not be many training session left so ‘We wish you all a Merry Christmas and happy new Year’

Training Saturday 9th September, AT&F Sunday 10th.

07/09/2017/in Avon Track and Field, Training sessions/by Jeremy Dale

Due to the British Target Sprint championships taking place this Saturday 9th September on the athletics track, there will not be the club training session from 11.00 am – 12.30 pm.

The only session taking place on Saturday is the Lodge Sports session from 10.00 -11.00 on the Astro.

Why not come along and support  Josh Snook &  Katie Robins in their first British Target Sprint National Championship Final.

Best of luck to our Yate and District AC team competing in the last Avon Track and Field League match at Gloucester on Sunday 10th. All support is very welcome as we aim to try and win the league for the third Year in a row. This year is very close and could go either way between us and Team Bath who are nip and tuck at the top.

Just to let you all know, Clifton College are holding their sports day at Yate this Saturday, 26th june, so the will not be any Track training on this day, (LSCL will be using the AWP for their session).

Sunday 25th is however available, so discuss with you coach if you would like to train then.

The following weekend (1st and 2nd July) is the Cancer UK 24 hour relay for life so again no training either day (LSCL on the AWP) There are other times during the week we can open up the track, so again talk to your coach to see if they can fit in another session.

Christmas

21/12/2016/in Chairmans message, Training sessions/by Jeremy Dale

Just to let you all know, unless you have made arrangements with your coach, tomorrow (Thursday 22nd December) will be the last training session at YOSC until Tuesday 3rd January 2017.

I hope you have a great Christmas and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our new years party at YOSC on Saturday 31/12/16!

We have had a great season, staying in Div 1 of the Midland league and premier of the YDL U17/20 & gaining promotion to the premier division in YDL U13/U15.  Next year, I am sure a whole new set of challenges will confront us, I am also sure we will be up to them together.

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped this year, athletes, team manager, officials, coaches and parents, without you all, this club would not be what it is now and will become in the future.

Have a wonderful holiday and here’s to a great 2017 season!

Busy weekends at the track

16/06/2016/in Training sessions, Yate Athletic Club News/by Jeremy Dale

Over the next few weekends YOSC have some bookings that will effect the Saturday morning sessions.
On 18/6/16, 25/6/16, 02/7/16 the 10.00 ’til 11.00 and 11.00 til 12.00 session will be on the Astro pitches only as all day/weekend bookings on the track and in field will be taking place.
We appreciate this may prohibit some throws, jumps and hurdles, as an alternative from Monday 20th June the athletics stadium is not booked by Brimsham Green School during the week, until the new term in September, so there are opportunities to train on Fridays from 9.00am until late evening.
Athletes should talk to their coaches and coaches should discuss the options with Mark or Jeremy, it could be during the competition season, a Friday may suit, should there be a competition on Sunday for example?

New club Session, YDL & South West Champs

08/07/2015/in SW Champs, Training sessions, YDL/by Jeremy Dale

New Saturday Morning Club Session from 11.00 ’til 12.00 Noon

Due to the growing popularity of the Saturday Morning session the club has decided to book the track from 11..00am ’til 12.00 noon as another regular club session. Cost will be £2 for the hour, payable at the start (volunteers please to collect money), please check with your coach weather they will be there or what session they want you to do.

YDL UAG Swansea Sunday 26/07/15

Sandrea and Rachael have asked all those selected for the next UAG match on 26/07/15 at Swansea to make a special effort to compete. We are in a position to potentially make the final this year so every point counts. There will be a coach there (and back)! so transport is not a problem. Reaching the National Final would be a real achievement and experience, please do your bit if asked. Thank you.

South West Champs Sunday 19/07/15 @ Exeter

For those of you who have entered or yet to (entries held open until 10th July) Sam Hillier is looking at hiring a mini bus if there are enough numbers interested contact 07917 693383 or email sam.ac.coach@gmail.com if you are interested.

Track Restrictions Tonight 05/03/15

05/03/2015/in Training sessions/by Jeremy Dale

We have just been advised the white lining on the track is being done today and will not be dry for tonight. We therefore only have the home straight (finish line is also repainted so has to be avoided) shot putt, hammer and High jump areas available tonight.  I would suggest Sandra and Mark could share the home straight for short speed work, Graham is on Holiday so no hurdles, distance work will be unavailable, as is long/triple jump, javelin, the two bends and back straight. Check with your coach if in doubt who will make their own decision.Access to the container and club house are okay if you want to do core work.
