The 2021 annual “Awards Night” went ahead on Saturday 11th December, despite worries about the new COVID Omicron variant.
Hosted jointly by Ellen Taylor and Andrew Moyes, the evening was well organised and gave us all the opportunity to review what has to be one of the most amazing seasons the club has ever had.
We had a fantastic evening on December 1st, at the England Athletics South West Volunteer Awards…
First of all, we are super-excited to say we have just won the South West Club of the Year award!
There are 9 awards up for grabs and this year Yate & District Athletic Club have finalists in 4 categories!

Our good friends at Neuff Athletic Equipment have very generously offered Yate & District Athletic Club 10% of all sales, without affecting how much the customer pays for their products.
Our Sportshall teams competed in the first match in the Gloucestershire Sportshall League against teams from Cheltenham, Swindon, Gloucester and Dursley
It was a great team performance and we had some fantastic results.
Well, what a season!!
We seemed to go from nothing last year to everything this year!
All athletes did superbly, especially considering last year there were no league matches at all
parkruns are free, weekly, community events all around the world.
Saturday morning events are 5k and take place in parks and open spaces. On Sunday mornings, there are 2k junior parkruns for children aged four to 14.
This year has been a fantastic opportunity to be partnered with an enthusiastic and welcoming club. Coaches, parents and athletes have embraced my work and taken many opportunities to talk about sport psychology, what it is and how it could help.
After extensive refurbishment at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex, attention turned to the issues surrounding inclusion and community athletics for all. Following discussions with potential partners across the South West, and after meetings with England Athletics, it was confirmed that YOSC was the ideal venue for development of an open and developing athletics programme for all level and abilities.
Looking ahead to Season 2022, If promotion/relegation is introduced the team should be in with a chance to be promoted.
