Whilst the final stage of this important work takes place…
Just a final reminder there is an open competition at Yate tonight from 6.00 pm so no track training.
With the next round of competitions about to start (Avon Track and field and YDL) now’s the time to try and get a personal best and get noticed by the team managers! A full schedule of events and rules are on our FB page or Bristol and West website.
Hope to see you there tonight.
Just to remind everyone there will not be an academy session on Wednesday 23rd May, as there is another open competition being held at Yate, entry on the night, so we encourage you all to enter. There will be another Quad kids comp within the events so all the under 11 are encouraged to have a go at their home track.
Details on our home page link.
The South West championships entries are now open (https://events.englandathletics.org/competition/easw-track-field-2018/profile) check the qualifying standard before you enter and if you meet the requirements give it a go.
They are being held on Sunday 22/07/18 at Exeter Stadium.
Best of luck for then and our open on Wednesday 23rd May at Yate
Just to confirm the track is booked on SATURDAY 21/04/18 by North Somerset so there is NO TRAINING for Yate and
District AC on Saturday 21/04/17 at all.
Next Wednesday evening the 25th April there is an open competition from 6.00 pm run jointly by YATE & District AC and Bristol and West AC so there will be no Yate AC academy sessions. We would, however, encourage you all to enter the event. There are quad kid events too, (75 m, 600 m long jump & vortex throw) so everyone should be able to give it a go. Don’t forget the team managers will be able to see the results which helps them in team selection, how will they be able to select you if they don’t know how well you do and what you like doing?
Please go to the front page of our web site, click on the entry details, its entry on the night, so just turn up, pay and compete! For some of you this may be your first taste of competition, so what better way to start at your own track, with all the friendly faces you know around to help!
Last bit of news. Don’t forget the entries for the Avon County Championships close on 5/05/18, last year we had a great Yate representation in the event so get those entries in!
The Throws and Jumps open held at YOSC on Saturday 24th March was a great success.
As you may be aware all proceeds from entries and the tombola were to be donated to Sport relief and we managed to raise £503.30!
Thank you to every one who helped out (special thanks to Amy Nolan for manning the tombola which raise £65 towards the total)!
Despite one or two learning points on the day, we received many positive comments from athletes and officials regarding the event and the complex.
Thank you all.
Looking forward to our Sprints and Hurdles open on 08/04/18!
We are holding our first event of the outdoor season on Saturday 24th March at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex.
Entries are now open, go to the fixtures section and scroll down to find the details or use the click here on the front page under our Sprints and Hurdles entry form.
This is a great opportunity to register a height or distance which will go on ‘power of 10’ and will allow our team managers to see your performances when selecting our teams.
If you are new to competition, being at our home track this is the best way to start your competitive season, surrounded by faces you know. Go on give it a go, we will be on hand should you have any concerns on the day!
