Almost too busy to find time to write the news since the Avon League on June 9th.
We have some great news to share…
We have once again been shortlisted for the England Athletics’ South West Club of the Year!
This time it’s a public vote – so we need everyone to get involved and cast your vote for us.
Congratulations to two Yate AC Athletes Izzy Walkey and Henry Watson who represented England Schools at the SIAB International this weekend.
Never before have two Yate athletes competed at the same major international championships, so when Owen Garrett (Discus) and Louis Tutcher (Hammer) were both selected history had been made.
Please be aware that all training sessions have been cancelled this Saturday (the 6th July).
This is due to the Yate Relay for Life 24-hour event.
In our third match we managed to finish 4th with Swindon in 3rd place only 5 points ahead! This was a massive improvement from our last match where we finished in 6th place. We avoided immediate relegation, but it will mean that we will need to fight for our place to stay up next season and avoid relegation by putting all our best performances over the 3 matches to compete on paper.
Congratulations to Owen Garrett and Louis Tutcher, who were selected to represent England at the inaugural “Pickering Memorial Throws International” held at Loughborough University on 27th May 2024.
Despite the extensive rain overnight, three of our para athletes successfully competed in in an international field. With seeding heats on Saturday and finals on Sunday, all progressed in the rankings and improved their PBs.
In 2023, we have worked with over 100 participants from the age of 6 years to over 50 years.
We have run sessions and competitions for those with a wide range of disability – physical, intellectual, deaf and blind.
Our approach to Adaptive and Para-Athletics is to “respect the individual and adapt the activities”.
We are fast approaching the new 2024/25 outdoor track and field season, so we have some early season news and events to share with you, so read on to find out about Kit, the upcoming AGM, Sports Mind Coaching, Sprints & Hurdles entries (now open) and the new Membership year.
